Crockpot Recipies

White Chicken Chili

Cubed raw chicken breasts
1 medium size jar of salsa
1 can chicken broth
1 large jar white northern beans
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
2 c. shredded mozzarella cheese

Cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4.

Hot Fruit

1 jar cinnamon chunky applesauce
sliced canned pears, drained
sliced canned peaches, drained
1 can mandarin oranges, drained
1 can chunk pineapple, drained
1 can Thank You brand cherries
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Layer the first 5 ingredients. Then put the can of cherries on top. Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle on t0p. Cook for 2-3 hours. Mix up after baking.

Enjoy!!

Back to School

The boys have been back in school for two weeks, but I am just getting around to posting it. Collin started 2nd grade, and Kayden is in am Kindergarten. They both love it.

The girls also enjoy having some alone time! We are finishing up our summer curriculum, and then we will be starting a new preschool curriculum (Raising Rock Stars Preschool) I have been busy planning and getting things ready.

No More Training Wheels!!

We took advantage of the $1 matinee movies at Holland 7 this summer. We went and saw Alvin and the Chipmucks: The Squeakquel, and Happy Feet. Unfortunately, I didn't get very good pictures:(

Lemonade Stand

We had a lemonade stand last Friday. The kids had a blast making their signs, getting everything set up, and waving at cars going by. They got so excited when the mail man stopped:)

I spent the weekend in Harbor Springs visiting my friend Jodi. We spent some time downtown Petoskey and at the beach Friday afternoon. Friday night we went to Charlevoix's Venetian Festival, and watched fireworks by the water.

Saturday we drove through the Tunnel of Trees- a scenic drive along Lake Michigan. We also ate at some great restaurants. It was a short, but fun visit. Thanks Jodi!

We had tacos for lunch today. This is the first time I have made them for the kids, and they were a hit. They each had 2 and C had 3. If only they weren't so messy. I should have taken a picture of the floor after they were done eating:)

Vacation Bible School

C and K went to Bible School this week!! They had a great time singing songs, listening to Bible stories, playing games, and much more. I loved to hear what they learned each day, and we have all been singing the songs they learned. They are already talking about Bible school next year.

Top 2 Tuesday - Summer Recipe

1. BBQ Chicken Packets

4 small Boneless skinless chicken breast halves (1 lb.)
Barbecue Sauce
1 can pineapple rings
1 green peppers rings

HEAT grill to medium-high heat.

PLACE 1 chicken breast in center of each of 4 large sheets heavy-duty foil; top with remaining ingredients.

BRING up foil sides. Double fold top and ends to seal each packet, leaving room for heat circulation inside.

GRILL 12 to 15 min. or until chicken is done (165°F). Cut slits in foil to release steam before opening each packet.

*****I found this recipes in the Kraft Food and Family magazine last year. It is so good and easy.

2. Grape Salad

1 lb each of red and green grapes
8 oz. cream cheese (soften)
8 oz. sour cream
3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. pecans or walnuts

Mix cream cheese, sugar, sour cream, and vanilla. Add grapes. Combine brown sugar and nuts and sprinkle over top. Cover and chill 12- 24 hours.

We tried out geocaching this week. Between one of the kids not cooperating, and poison ivy plants we did not have any luck finding a cache. C had a great time, and was very disappointed that we didn't have any luck. We will have to try again.

We made kool-aid playdoh today. I have tried different versions of this and it always came out to runny or to sticky. I finally found the perfect recipe.

KOOL AID PLAY DOH

1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 c. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. oil
1 pkg. Kool-Aid
1 c. boiling water

Mix ingredients together and knead when cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.

1. Panera Bread - I usually order 1/2 sierra turkey and either caesar salad or baked potato soup.

2. Noodles and Co. - I don't get to eat there very often anymore since our local one went out of business, but whenever I get to GR I try to eat there. I love the mushroom stroganoff and pesto cavatappi.

3. Applebees - boneless buffalo wings! YUM!

4. Olive Garden - I love there bread sticks!!

5. Cafe 58 - This is my new fave. Yummy wraps and cookies!!

There was no theme this week for MTM, so we did an Easter tin. We had eggs, sausage, mand. oranges, and a jello egg. It was also April's Fools Day so I froze their juice, and poured just a little juice to top it off. They thought it was fun!

This week we read Hosanna: The Story of Palm Sunday. The kids also acted out the story. They took turns being the donkey, Jesus, and the crowd shouting Hosanna!! They loved it, and it was so cute to watch!

Our Bible verse this week was 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4

The kids made a Jelly Bean Prayer book.

*** Cute Story: As we were sorting out the colors of the jelly beans I told the kids they may not eat the ones that we were putting in their bags. A couple hours later K told me that he wasn't going to eat the jelly beans until he died, because he wanted to always have them as a reminder of Jesus:)

We continued to work on Resurrection eggs.

My only cleaning tip is always have a couple of Magic Erasers around. These work great for getting crayon off walls and furniture:) Thanks to a little girl who was supposed to be napping I have experince with this! 3 or 4 erasers later and you couldn't tell she had left a masterpiece on freshley painted walls and a table and chairs.

Raising Rock Stars

We have been using Songs for Saplings to learn Bible verses. This week we worked on the Spring verse:
There are great printables that go along with this at Totally Tots.

We have been using the Ressurection Eggs to learn the Easter story. This has been a big hit with the kids. They ask from the time I get there in the morning if it is egg time:)

We read the Bible verse that goes along with the egg, and then they try to guess what might be inside it. They take turns opening the eggs, and then they pass it around. We have 4 more eggs to go!

~Not having to bundle the kids up in their snow gear!

~I have no plans. I am hoping to take the kids to Children's Museum or something fun.

~ No - but I hope to someday!

~ I would grow beans, tomatoes, and sweet corn

~ Not really

~This weekend we had snow, but today it's sunny and in the 50's!!!!!

Muffin Tin Monday - Special Guest

This week we worked on the Letter G. Thanks to COAH for the printables.

We started off the week by going to the library to look for a book about Gum! We found Bubble Gum, Bubble Gum by Lisa Wheeler. It was a very cute book.

The kids had fun playing with a gumball machine. Thanks Mindy:)

They did a couple G tracing/writing pages. I was very impressed on how well they did with these.

The kids also worked on there cutting skills.

Show Us Your Life: Typical Day

Here is my typical day:

7:00 - wake up and get ready for work

7:30 - leave for work

7.35 - Get to see the kids!!

7:35 - 8:00 - Get things organized for the day- while the kids watch tv and/or play

8:00 - Get C on the bus

8:10 - 8:30 - Pick out the kids clothes and get them ready for the day.

8:30 - 9:00- Breakfast

9:00 - 10:00 - Free Play for kids. I clean up breakfast dishes and set up circle time

10:00 - 11:30 - Circle Time

11:30 - 11:45 - Clean up time

11:45 - 12:00 - Lunch Prep- Kids wash hands, help set table, etc.

12:00 - 12:30 - Lunch and Devotions

12:30 - 1:30 - Free Play/TV Time

1:30 - 2:00 - Clean up/ Quiet Time

2:00 - 4:00 - Nap Time :) Time for me to do the dishes, get things ready for tomorrow, etc.

4:00 - C gets off bus

4:01 - Snack - C is always starving when he gets off the bus.

4:15 - 4:45 - Help C with homework. Other kids play quietly.

4:45 - 5:00 - Clean up time

5:00 - 5:30 - TV Time (Electric Company)

5:30 - 5:45- Parents come home, and I say goodbye:(

6:00 - Dinner

6:30 -8:00 - Catch up on blogs, e-mail, facebook, etc.

8:00 - 10:00 - TV Time/ Work on curriculum

10:00 - Get ready for bed/devotions

10:30 - Good Night!

1. Target - I could spend hours there. They have a little of everything!

Muffin Tin Monday

There was no theme for Muffin Tin Monday, so we did a special muffin tin breakfast.

The week we worked on the color blue. We used Me and Marie's learning pack. These are great, and all the planning and hard work is done for you. All you have to do is print.

The kids worked on there scissors skills by making a blue poster. They loved this!

They also colored/made a blue book.

We finished are last square activity for the month ~ making a cut and paste book about squares.

Show Us Your Life: Collections

I am linking up to Kelly's Korner's Show Us Your Life. This weeks theme is Collections.

I collect childrens books!! I started collecting books when I was in college, and now I can't pass up a good deal on a book. This is just part of my collection.

I have recently joined Paperback Swap, and have gotten some new books in return for books that I no longer needed/wanted. Now if only I could find a good way to organize them.

Circle Time

Everyday around 10:00 we do circle time. The kids love it, and I enjoy watching them learn. We start out with calendar time. I saw this calendar on 1+1+1=1, and made my own version. We talk/sing about the weather, the date, and the color of the day.

After calendar we have Bible Story Time. We read a story from 100 Bible Stories and then listen/sing the song that goes with the story for the day. We also learn a bible verse each week using Songs for Saplings. The kids are doing great with this, and have learned 8 verses since the beginning of the year.

Then we start tray time. I set up 4-5 trays with differant activities. Each week we have a differant letter that we focus on. We also have a color and shape that we learn about each month.

Starting Sunday I will be linking up with Tot School to show what we have learned that week.

Muffin Tin Monday- Orange
